Swimming
Swimming is an aquatic activity and sport that is generally used to move and progress above the surface of the water. There are many forms of swimming, including speed swimming, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly, each of which requires different techniques and movements.
Swimming has many benefits. First, it is an excellent total body workout that strengthens and develops muscles, including the arms, legs, back and abdomen. Swimming helps to increase cardiovascular endurance, improve stamina and reduce or maintain body weight. In addition, swimming is a low-impact movement that puts little stress on joints, making it an ideal choice for those who are injury-prone or have joint problems. Swimming goggles, swimming caps and swimsuits are commonly worn.
Swimming can also be practised as a competitive sport. Swimming competitions are held over different distances and in different styles, and competitors compete on the basis of time. Swimming races can range from sprints to long distance races and require effort and endurance from competitors to achieve the best result.
